A good place to play

The rules that keep NodeCrest safe, fair and welcoming.

Private servers are player-managed. Owners set their own gameplay rules. Our network safety rules apply everywhere on NodeCrest.

Game rules

These cover public spaces, private worlds and the services that power them.

1. Respect others.

Do not harass, threaten, target or use hate speech against another person. Disagreements about a private world should be handled respectfully with its owner.

Possible consequences: A warning or mute for chat misconduct; serious or repeated harassment can lead to a network ban.

2. Keep public areas appropriate.

Keep the lobby, public chat, usernames, skins and any publicly visible content safe for the community. Do not display sexual, graphic or hateful material.

Possible consequences: Content removal, a request to change a name or skin, a mute or a network ban depending on the content.

3. No illegal or harmful content.

Do not distribute malware, scams, stolen information or illegal material. Do not use a hosted world or the network to harm others or expose their private information.

Possible consequences: Harmful content or worlds may be removed. Serious incidents can lead to an immediate ban or account removal.

4. Do not attack or exploit NodeCrest.

Do not attack game nodes, APIs, websites or other network services, attempt unauthorized access, or disrupt availability. Report security issues privately through support rather than testing them against other players.

Possible consequences: Access restrictions, a network ban, or removal of the affected server or account.

5. No lag machines or resource abuse.

Do not deliberately overload a world or shared infrastructure with excessive entities, redstone, command loops or automated requests. Normal building is welcome; stop or adjust a setup when staff identify a resource problem.

Possible consequences: The affected setup may be removed and the world stopped. Deliberate or repeated abuse can lead to server removal or a network ban.

6. Do not abuse bugs or bypass limits.

Report bugs instead of using them to gain rewards, duplicate items, bypass permissions, evade moderation or exceed hosting limits. Do not share instructions that enable ongoing abuse.

Possible consequences: Unfair gains may be removed. Exploitation or punishment evasion can lead to a network ban.

7. Do not access servers without permission.

Only join worlds you are allowed to visit. Do not bypass invitations, friend permissions, access controls or an owner’s decision to remove you.

Possible consequences: Removal from the world and access restrictions; deliberate bypasses can lead to a network ban.

8. Server owners are responsible for harmful use.

Private servers are player-managed. Owners decide their own gameplay rules, including PvP and building permissions, and must address harmful use of their world. Private-world rules do not override network safety rules. Report serious issues to staff.

Possible consequences: Staff may remove harmful content, restrict access, or remove the world or server. Owners who knowingly enable abuse can face account restrictions or a ban.

9. Staff may remove content, servers, worlds, or accounts when needed.

Staff may act to protect players and the network, including stopping an unsafe world or removing harmful content. Ordinary private-world gameplay disputes are managed by the owner; network safety concerns may require staff intervention.

Possible consequences: Actions can include content removal, server or world removal, mutes, bans and account removal. You can ask for a review through the appeal or support channels.

Discord rules

These apply to messages, voice channels, profiles and interactions within our Discord community.

1. Respect everyone.

Treat members and staff respectfully, including during disagreements.

Possible consequences: Warning; repeated disruptive behaviour may lead to a timeout or removal.

2. No harassment, threats, hate speech, or abuse.

Do not target people or groups, encourage harassment or threaten harm.

Possible consequences: Content removal, timeout, kick or ban; serious threats or hate speech may result in an immediate ban.

3. Keep chat appropriate and safe.

Use language and content suitable for the community, including in voice chat.

Possible consequences: Content removal, warning or timeout; repeated violations may lead to a kick or ban.

4. No NSFW, gore, scams, malware, or illegal content.

Do not post, link to or distribute unsafe material or fraudulent offers.

Possible consequences: Content removal and, for serious harmful content, an immediate ban.

5. No spam, flooding, or excessive mentions.

Avoid repeated messages, disruptive bots and unnecessary mass mentions.

Possible consequences: Message removal, warning or timeout; persistent abuse may lead to a ban.

6. Use channels for their intended purpose.

Read channel descriptions and keep support, discussion and media in the appropriate places.

Possible consequences: Messages may be moved or removed; repeated disruption may lead to a timeout.

7. No advertising without permission.

Ask staff before promoting servers, products, services or other communities.

Possible consequences: Advertisement removal, warning or timeout; repeated or deceptive promotion may lead to a ban.

8. Do not impersonate staff, bots, or other users.

Do not use names, avatars or messages to mislead people about your identity or authority.

Possible consequences: Request to change the impersonating profile, content removal, kick or ban.

9. Do not share private information or screenshots without permission.

Get consent before sharing private messages, screenshots or personal details. Never expose another person’s identifying information.

Possible consequences: Content removal, timeout or ban depending on the privacy risk and intent.

10. Do not abuse tickets, reports, or support.

Submit genuine issues with useful information. Do not create malicious reports, flood tickets or harass support staff.

Possible consequences: Ticket restrictions, warning or timeout; malicious or repeated abuse may lead to a ban.

11. Follow Discord Terms of Service.

Use Discord in accordance with its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Possible consequences: Content removal or removal from the community where required for safety or platform compliance.

12. Staff may remove content, mute, kick, or ban when needed.

Staff may act to protect the community and resolve serious disruptions. Ask for a review through support if you believe an action was mistaken.

Possible consequences: Content removal, timeout, mute, kick or ban as appropriate to the incident.

See Discord’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

How moderation works

Consequences depend on the severity, harm caused, intent and previous violations. The examples above describe possible actions, not a fixed sequence or guaranteed duration. Serious safety issues can require immediate action without a prior warning.

  • Warning: an explanation of what needs to stop or change.
  • Mute or timeout: a restriction on communication for a stated duration, or permanently where appropriate.
  • Kick: removal from a session or the Discord community.
  • Ban: loss of access to the affected community or the game network, temporarily or permanently.
  • Content, world or account removal: harmful material or services may be removed to protect players and infrastructure.

A private server owner’s gameplay decisions are separate from network moderation. Permission to play on a private world does not permit harassment, harmful content or attacks on NodeCrest.

Reports & appeals

Report harmful use or a security issue privately through support. Include what happened and relevant evidence; do not repost harmful content in public.

For a game network punishment, use the private appeal ID supplied with the punishment at the appeal page. Explain why the decision should be reviewed. For Discord moderation or a removed world or account, contact support.

These community rules work alongside our Terms of Service.
